Principal Electrical Engineer
Massachusetts

You will be designing electrical circuits and systems consisting of instrumentation, high voltage, power, and control system designs for use in large scale capital equipment.  Projects will include New Product Development and Continuous Improvement, and will be a team approach with Mechanical, Software, and other Electrical Engineers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Project Management skills - ability to independently execute all project phases from conceptual designs through detailed design, prototype part procurement, development test, reliability test, and release to manufacturing.

  • Ability to apply engineering principles to understand and affect design efforts outside of electrical engineering (IE: mechanical, software, physics, applications).

  • Ability to deliver technical presentations in support of product proposals and engineering reviews.

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers

  • Ability to characterize, analyze and troubleshoot a large, complex system, either in-house or at a customer site, using a “hands-on” approach.

  • Ability to execute conceptual designs, detailed design and release of products to manufacturing.

  • Ability to evaluate system designs for cost and manufacturability performance targets.

  • Ability to design analog/digital instrumentation circuits, control circuits, power supplies, motion control, data acquisition, high voltage (10kv – 800kv) and designing for EMC considerations.

  • Knowledge of grounding and shielding techniques.

  • Ability to oversee packaging of circuit boards into chassis.

Qualifications may include:

  • Analog and digital circuit design.

  • Computer based machine control design.

  • Distributed I/O and signal conditioning design for equipment control.

  • AC and DC power system design and analysis.

  • Circuit analysis software experience.

  • High Level digital design language (Verilog, VHDL).

  • Laboratory instrumentation (Oscilloscopes, Logic/Timing Analyzers, DVM’s) experience.

  • LabView Software.

  • Control Loop Analysis (stability, gain and phase margin).

  • Robotics experience (motors, encoders, amplifiers, motor tuning).

Requirements:

  • BSEE or equivalent with a minimum of 10 + years related experience.

  • Proficiency with electrical and electronic design tools

  • Proficiency with MS Office

  • Limited travel within the US, Asia, and Europe
