Purpose of Role:

The Product Manager II is responsible for serving as a liaison between the systems development team, product management team, payers, and other entities requesting changes or additions to the current client’s product. Product Managers must have a working knowledge of the product area they support.  The Product Manager II has a solid understanding of the client’s business processes as well as the respective short-term and long-term business direction for both parties.  The Product Manager II performs change request management, industry and market research, prototyping, user group facilitation, and documents business requirements and functional specifications through interaction with requesters. Changes to the product are communicated to the development team through business requirements. This role is required to serve in multiple roles in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial corporate environment.

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in a technology (information exchange) and/or health care environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in work experience.

  • Experience working with healthcare and/or internet applications.

  • 3 or more years experience as a business analyst, product analyst, or product management in a technology (internet) and/or health care environment. 

  • Experience in the writing of detailed technical documentation, specifically business requirements and functional specifications.

  • Experience with facilitating JAD sessions or other requirements gathering processes.

  • Understanding of web development methodologies, application design, navigation, and information architecture.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, supporting internal and external business partners.

  • Ability to work with external partners and internal partners including production support teams and information technology.

  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and make sound decisions.

  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work under pressure.  Maintains composure and professionalism in an interrupt-driven environment.  Must be able to multi-task.

  • Must be flexible and embrace change.

  • Ability to work independently under minimal guidance.  Strong focus on self-starting and accountability for results.

Desired:

  • Understanding of OOD (Java, HTML, XML, Java Script and Patterns) and impact to the development process.

  • Experience with data modeling, relational databases, data structures and design.

  • Experience working with product and business management teams in a large marketing department.

  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial company

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing Change Requests     15%     

  • Administer the change request process, including the entry of new change requests (CRs), timely responses, and appropriate prioritization of requests.

Identifying Business Requirements      25%     

  • Create, evaluate, and prioritize business requirements for approved change requests, soliciting information from multiple sources as necessary.

Design and Usability    10%     

  • Produce screen designs and review all site designs for usability.

  • Recruit, coordinate and lead usability testing sessions.

  • Modify design, as necessary, based on results from usability testing sessions as necessary. 

Project/Program Planning        15%     

  • Develop and track project plans, manage and track strategic projects from inception to completion using standard project management methodologies (PMI). 

User Groups and Prototyping   5%       

  • Utilize html desktop tools to create prototype screens for user feedback sessions.

  • Identify candidates, organize materials, present content and solicit feedback from user groups.

  • Organize and present findings to stakeholders.

User Training   5%       

  • Prepare and conduct internal/external training for upcoming and/or existing functionality.

  • Create help, FAQs and tutorials.

  • Represent client at industry trade shows and payer-sponsored functions. 

Strategic Market and Industry Research           10%     

  • Maximize opportunities to grow product in the strategic direction set forth by executive management, taking into account competitive intelligence and industry trends.

Release Packaging       10%     

  • Define content of schedule and off-cycle releases to deliver strategic products and user enhancements.  Requires coordination with leadership and development teams.

Professional Networking          5%       

  • Expand industry and product and departmental knowledge base by attending relevant training sessions (i.e. conferences, CBT).
