Disability Manager I

Manager I, for Disability Claims will:

  • Supervise unit of Disability Claims Case Managers to ensure timely and appropriate case management of claims of moderate and severe complexity.

  • Monitor and ensure that team follows established practices for consistent case management, rendering complete and timely initial determinations and maintaining action plans in accordance with current procedures and duration guidelines.

  • Monitor and ensure that claims decisions are based on contractual definition of disability, are timely, and are supported by appropriate system documentation/resource utilization.

  • Provide immediate mentoring and feedback to staff; address claimant-level service issues with both claimants and local employer representatives.

  • Develop and maintain a high performance claims team, while creating a culture of commitment to success, energy, and enthusiasm.

  • Assist Manager in addressing larger workflow and staffing issues within unit.

Successful candidate will posses the following skills:

  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent experience plus 4-6 years of disability claims case management experience (or related claims experience)

  • Supervisory or team leader experience preferred but not required 

  • Demonstrated customer service, mentoring, leadership, organizational, problem solving, and advanced case management skills required.
