Seeking an
experienced Vice President of Engineering for reporting to
the company President to head up the global engineering
function for our client and its three subsidiaries. Our
client’s wide-ranging technologies require a dynamic leader
with knowledge and experience covering multiple elements;
pressure & temperature sensors, analytical systems, software
and after market services.
Our client is a wholly owned subsidiary of a leading global
supplier of highly engineered test, measurement and control
products and software utilized in the manufacturing process
of rubber and polymers. In addition to the Rubber and
Plastics industries, their products are used in applications
within Oil & Gas, Sanitary, and Life Sciences industries.
The company serves a diverse group of customers throughout
the world, including end users, OEM’s, and distributors.
They are headquartered in Franklin, Massachusetts, with
facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and
Malaysia.
The successful candidate will lead, manage and direct global
engineering units, set strategy, grow a profitable global engineering unit, and share
responsibility for the P&L, business results, business
operations, and employee organization with executive
leadership team. Travel is estimated to be 30-40% to
customers and manufacturing sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
M.S. in
either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related
field, or equivalent in education and experience, with an
MBA preferred, and experience with firmware and software
also preferred.
Ten years of increasing responsibility leading a multi-site
global engineering organization. Experience in implementing
and executing product development process methodology and
conducting Net Present Value (NPN) evaluation or other
product prioritization processes. Proven history of
releasing products on time and on budget. Experience with
initiating change and ensuring transition to a high
performing global development effort.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge
of pressure & temperature sensors, analytical systems,
software and after market services.
Demonstrated prior experience in managing multi-site
engineering groups; demonstrated superior organizational
skills and excellent written, verbal, and presentation
skills.
Language Skills:
Ability to
analyze and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, and
governmental regulations. The ability to effectively
communicate verbally and in writing, both internally and
externally with all customers, employees and the general
public.
People Development and
Leadership:
Consistent record of successfully developing resources along both
managerial and technical tracks. Supervise all engineering
managers and staff. Carry out managerial responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and
applicable laws in all countries. Responsibility includes
interviewing, hiring, and training employees; employee
development; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
Reasoning Ability:
Demonstrated problem solving ability. Ability to define
problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of
technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and
deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
