Our client is a $35 Billion global leader in electrical and electronic equipment used in industrial, commercial and home products.

The Imaging and Computer Vision group does research in many areas of computer vision, computer graphics, cameras, and other sensors.

As the US lab for a large corporation, our client is uniquely situated to contribute to the state of the art and at the same time see those contributions make concrete impacts in the marketplace and in society as a whole.

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking qualified applicants for two positions: a Research Scientist and a Senior Research Scientist in the Imaging and Computer Vision Group. This group pursues cutting-edge research concerning information capture / extraction / analysis and display including computer vision, computational photography, multi-projector systems, image processing, machine learning, and 3D graphics & modeling. This group contributes to and maintains strong connections in these research communities, and also applies its specialized knowledge to challenging industrial problems in safety and security, robotics, medicine, retail systems, automobiles, large and small displays, and building systems.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead and perform original research within the above areas, and to extend of client’s domain of expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify new problems and solutions that are broadly useful in the world of images and sensing. Conduct research to evaluate these solutions and publish results in selective peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Conceive futuristic business possibilities and the technology and methods to address them.

  • Learn about existing businesses of our client and consider their needs when defining research initiatives. Collaborate with our client’s labs in Japan to transfer information (both ways!), prototypes, and code.

  • Assist in preparing your patent applications and research proposals.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related area.

  • (Senior only) More than 5 years of successful research experience in well-recognized academia or industry research laboratories.

  • Documented track record of creative innovation and of developing, conducting, and leading successful research projects.

  • Excellent programming skills (C/C++, Matlab, etc) are required.

  • Applicant must be able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and balance workload among different projects. Good presentation and written skills are expected.

  • Robotics, Computer Graphics, and Optimization experience is particularly suitable to some of our client’s current research.
