Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is our client’s leader in Joint Battlespace Integration. With a strong international and domestic customer base, including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the U.S. armed forces, IDS provides integrated air and missile defense and naval and maritime war fighting solutions. 

Systems Validation, Test and Analysis Directorate (SVTAD) are the central focus for all integration, test and validation activities within IDS. More than 1300 employees of SVTAD provide their expertise to ensure customer success through the development and execution of innovative and comprehensive test, verification and validation strategies, processes, tools and techniques. SVTAD employees are involved in all aspects of test

including: design-for-test, integration, subsystem and component level testing through sell-off of IDS’ most sophisticated systems and technologies.

Opportunities currently exist within SVTAD's Radar Systems Department. This SVTAD department provides system engineering, integration and test expertise to the radar systems programs within IDS. Our client’s opportunities require individuals to perform various engineering activities depending on their experience and skill level, such as test and systems validation, modeling and simulation, requirements development, data analysis, flight test analysis and overall systems integration.  

Sr. Principal Missile Defense and Radar Systems Engineer

Opportunities currently exist for highly visible, technically challenging assignments which directly contribute to protecting our nation and our nation's warfighters. Your work will culminate in the testing and fielding of sophisticated radars, defense systems and sensor technologies needed to defend the battlefield, valuable US assets, allies and the homeland from attacks by conventional and nuclear ballistic missile threats.  Mastery of end-to-end weapon system knowledge, weapon design, response and timelines, test and deployment strategies and innovative thinking will be key components to your success in these roles.

A successful candidate for these roles will bring exemplary leadership skills, strong technical breadth and depth, and "board-room" level presence and demeanor required of high visibility positions.  High performance and success in these roles have led some of our talented and driven engineers into key leadership and program manager roles as Integrated Product Team leaders, Cross Product Team leaders, and Program Managers.  Some of our client’s most highly performing individual contributors with exceptionally strong technological or scientific knowledge and a passion for innovation and publication have been recognized by the prestigious title of Engineer Fellow as a result of their documented success in these roles.

You must be a highly motivated “self-starter” and possess strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills and must be capable of working well within multifaceted teams or at times independently to research solutions and bring about the resolution of complex problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 + years overall experience in developing, integrating and testing complex electromechanical systems

  • 4+ years related overall Engineering Leadership experience

  • Experience with RF, radar or sensor technologies

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science

  • This position requires that an individual can obtain a security clearance. To be eligible for a security clearance on a US position, you must be a US citizen.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of RF, radar or sensor technologies and the associated signal processing

  • Demonstrable experience of RF, radar or sensor design, and its role and limits in system performance

  • Experience managing cost, schedule and performance

  • Effective root-cause analysis for radar, RF systems or other Defense systems

  • Effective communication with team members and customers

  • Documented contributions to defense technologies

  • Strong technical writing and the ability to document and present analysis and test results

  • Experience in deploying, allocating and using defense system assets

  • Participation in system engineering or defense-related symposiums and organizations

  • Leadership in closing out projects completely, including delivery of customer requirements

  • Experience in verification, validation, integration, flight test, field test and/or analysis on a DoD or Missile defense programs

  • Experience in developing real-time simulations or models for a hardware-in-the-loop test environment

  • Distributed computing, Networks (LAN & WAN)

  • Business and program improvements through process improvement methodologies

  • Working knowledge or experience with CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration)

  • Prior program management or IPT leadership

  • Advanced degree: Masters of Science in an Engineering discipline
    Some travel may be required.
