Team Leader, SR Principal Member of Technical Staff, Multimedia Group

Our client is seeking high-caliber applicants for a Team Leader / Senior Principal Member of Technical Staff position in the Multimedia Group with expertise in voice search, speech interfaces, and audio processing. The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical leadership to a team of researchers, and identify new research and business opportunities.  Further details are outlined below.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic R&D plan for the team in the areas of voice search, speech interfaces, and audio processing. This includes identifying new research opportunities that are technically significant and beneficial to the company.

  • Transfer developed technology to business units and R&D labs in Japan, including software, documentation and experimental results.

  • Work with external partners including product vendors and university collaborators. Travel to facilities in Japan and elsewhere is required.

  • Strengthen and maintain patent portfolio for voice search, speech interfaces, and audio processing technologies.

  • Take an active role in promoting team activities including presentation of research results in academic conferences and participation in industry forums.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

  • Applicants must have at least 10+ years of industrial experience including a minimum of 2-3 years in a management or project leadership role.

  • Thorough knowledge and expertise in voice search, speech interfaces, and audio processing technologies. Topics of interest include contextualized speech recognition, text-to-speech, information retrieval, and audio analysis and processing.

  • Strong publication record demonstrating novel research achievements and visibility in research communities.

  • Excellent presentation, written, inter-personal communication and organizational skills.
