Senior Government Managed Care Representative

The MMCO (Medicaid/Medicare Managed Care Organization) Representative is responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing, and managing new strategic payer business opportunities and initiatives for the purpose of increasing our client’s market share in defined geographic areas.  This is a strategically focused position which combines functions of business development and sales.  Frequent travel is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically identifies potential markets based on company strategy and business needs.

  • Identifies and engages key contacts/decision makers at identified payer organizations and builds relationships.

  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all products/services and operational processes.

  • Assists in the preparation of payer-related RFP responses, ensuring the most appropriate positioning for our client and articulating the company’s solution clearly, as it relates to the needs outlined in the request.

  • Prepares and delivers presentations to payer and partner organizations which promote products and services.

  • Transitions new payer smoothly to implementation team and maintains appropriate levels of relationship management.

  • Maintains sales records and prepares sales reports as required.

  • Works closely with Product team on business development opportunities.

  • Participate in trade show or expo events by working exhibit booths as requested.

  • Maintains and applies a working knowledge of industry trends and issues.

Work Experience & Skills: (Required)

  • 2-5 or more years of successful sales and/or sales management experience in or to Medicaid and/or Medicare Managed Care Organizations.

  • Successful consultative sales experience calling on CEO, COO, CFO, CIO/CTO and CMO level executives.

  • Strong government policy knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations that govern Medicaid and/or Medicare MCOs.

  • Strong understanding of Government Managed Care/Insurance organizations and related internal structure, business focus/need and decision tree.

  • Excellent analytical skills for the purpose of developing and presenting compelling product/business information to prospective and current business partners. 

  • History of building and maintaining strong positive business relationships at all decision levels.

  • Excellent management skills with the record of effectively “closing the deal.”

  • In-depth knowledge of government business development, sales and marketing principles and practices.

  • Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, presentation and organization skills.

  • Strong relationship management, influence, and collaboration skills.

  • Detailed project management knowledge.

  • Multi-tasking skills – able to manage current and emerging issues in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently under minimal guidance.

  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and make sound decisions.

  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.

  • Able to learn company and industry offerings and products quickly.

Work Experience & Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience working with or selling to commercial managed care plans.

  • Experience working with government healthcare agencies (Medicaid, CMS, Health Departments)

Education and Certification (Required)

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Policy, Government, Communications, or Computer Science, or a related field of study or equivalent experience

Education and Certification (Preferred)

      Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field of study
