Director of Contracts

The Director of Contracts will report directly to the Senior Director, Contract Execution and be an integral member of the IDS Contracts and Patriot Programs Leadership.  Lead IDS Contracts for the $2+ billion Patriot Programs integrated air defense market with over 700 contracts valuing $7B, Offset obligations valuing $1.3B and Business Pursuits valuing $9B.  The Director Patriot Programs has contractual responsibility for three distinct areas: Patriot Programs, International Direct Commercial Sales and Offsets and must effectively manage the priorities and relationships with and between customers to secure the timely award of our domestic and Foreign Military Sales contracts, while maximizing profitability. The individual will collaborate to expand the IDS international portfolio in a highly competitive market.  This requires the ability to understand and assimilate cultural and financial drivers, constraints, contracting solutions and to effectively influence US Government, Customer, IDS and company leadership.  The Director will also lead the oversight, control and rigor in developing and proposing Offset projects and obtaining legal approvals from constituents.  

Key Accountabilities: 1) Provide strategic thought leadership to develop innovative contracts solutions within the evolving US regulatory environment; lead change. 2) Achieve program and business area objectives. 3) Develop purposeful engagements with domestic and international customers. Ensure solutions are aligned with domestic and international acquisition processes. 4) Establish credibility and trusted, purposeful relationships with business partners, employees, and domestic and international customers.  5) Engage in business area issues to ensure expeditious closure. 6) Own all aspects of business area strategy. 7) Lead a geographically dispersed team of broadly skilled professionals, responsible for multi-billion dollar contracts. 8) Develop world-class talent to lead a $10B business through personal commitment coupled with clear candid communications. 9) Ensure successful governance/compliance of the business area.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 14 years business leadership experience in contracts, supply chain and/or program management.

  • Defense industry experience or experience in companies that bring technology products to market in a heavy regulated industry.

  • Experience with US government customers in the acquisition and user communities.

  • Experience with $ billion + contracts and subcontracts, offsets, and other contract vehicles.

  • Substantial international contracts experience. 

  • Experience leading in a multinational company.

  • Results based.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with domestic and international customers based on empathy and trust.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in multiple geographic locations.

  • Extensive negotiations experience.

  • Successfully has worked in a matrix environment.

  • Proficiency in contracts fundamentals.

  • Ability to travel internationally.

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain/retain a Secret security clearance.

  • BS/BA degree

  • MBA or other related advanced degree desired.
