Senior Manager of Engineering

Manages, directly or through subordinate managers, the technical and administrative aspects of product research, test, design and development. Confers with other departments regarding feasibility, cost effectiveness and other aspects of product development and research. Monitors progress on a variety of engineering products and projects to ensure fulfillment of product and scheduling objectives. Acts as an advisor to subordinate staff members on complex technical issues.

Technical responsibility for design and development of automation requirement specification and systems concepts and installs automation and transfer automation programs to production in a smooth and timely manner.
 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following):

  • Oversees R&D activities for new products, processes or technologies, or for the enhancement or extension of existing product lines within a specific product area or GBU.

  • Responsible for staffing, scheduling, coordinating and planning of engineering projects.

  • Works with Manufacturing and other internal resources to insure successful development of portfolio products, including definition, development and implementation of new systems and procedures or changes to existing systems and procedures including MRP II, ECO, ETP, ISO9000, Etc.

  • Manages Vendor qualification; may perform vendor audits.

  • Develops and meets budgets for assigned department, including operating requirements, equipment, and materials purchases.

  • Provides technical oversight and assistance to other departments as required.

  • Trains and develops subordinate staff as required.

  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and practices in areas such as safety and all regulatory compliance.

  • Responsible for the employment cycle, performance and compensation management, and training and development for assigned direct reports.

  • Supports all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.

Job Specifications:
 

  • BS, Engineering or equivalent

  • 10+ years of related experience

  • 5-7 years supervisory or management experience
