JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assume
responsibility for managing tooling projects from initial
customer contact
through quoting,
tool
design and construction, debugging, process development,
qualification and production.
Coordinate activities with Sales and Manufacturing personnel.
Assume responsibility
for all tool design reviews. Sign off on all tools made by
our client.
Act
as a member of various program teams and is typically
is
responsible for 20-30 new molds in various phases of design,
build,
qualification
and transfer to production.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Requires a
minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience
in
mold design,
construction
and/or procurement with some
in
depth knowledge or experience in plastics processing
and experience in
the
design for manufacturability
of plastics products. The individual should
also posses
in
depth experience with hot runner systems and experience in
building new molds which are required to hold part tolerance
to +/- .001 in. Five or more years experience in building
high precision,
close
tolerance molds with some working knowledge of CAD systems
such as Unigraphics, AutoCad,
ProEngineer is recommended.
Must possess
good oral and written
communication skills as well as good interpersonal,
organizational and administrative skills. A solid
background in mold design, build,
and procurement with a demonstrated record of successful
program management.
Proficiency
in
program management software, spreadsheet, word processing
and presentation
software
is a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the
following.
Other
duties may be assigned. Assume responsibility
for managing
tooling projects including:
Controlling costs and timing of major tooling projects.
Participating
in tool design review for assigned new molds. Assisting
Sales and Marketing personnel
with customer visits and presentations.
Troubleshoot molds and tool problems for all locations.
Providing
tooling
cost estimates in response to assigned RFQ's. Coordinating
testing, inspection
and
transfer of projects into manufacturing. Preparing status
reports for customers and for
internal
use. Making
recommendations to customers with respect to mold design,
cavitation,
prototyping and Moldflow analysis. Developing Mold Build
Specifications and solicits quotes from list
of Qualified Toolmaker Vendors. Preparing Purchase
Requisitions and places orders with toolmakers. Making
periodic visits to toolmakers to check on the status of
construction. Is required to stay current in the latest
technology related to this position.
Follow the systems,
policies and procedures
that
make up the Program Management System.
Is
accountable for bringing new molds and
tooling in on time and within budget. Is accountable for
molded parts meeting the customers quality requirements. Is
required to participate as a Tooling Engineer in several
programs at the same time. Is required to participate as a
team player in one or more Program Teams.
