Opportunity

The Facilities Planning and Space Management Director manages programming, planning, space management and design services consistent with the Facilities Master plan through the use of in house and contracted services.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, analyzes and recommends cost efficient and effective utilization of space for short and long range space planning and forecasting consistent with the Master Facilities/Strategic Plan.

• Directs and coordinates programming, planning and design services for all projects at the Hospital.

• Develops and maintains facility standards, including but not limited to space allocation, furniture, finishes and graphics, etc.

• Supports the Facilities Management department in the development and implementation of the Facilities Master Plan.

• Represents the Hospital, as directed, with neighboring institutions and regulatory authorities.

• Supports special projects for the Department of Facilities Management as needed.          

• Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates employees. Develops and implements work schedules and delegates assignments to meet project requirements.

• Monitors and evaluates employee job performance, provides guidance and feedback and initiates disciplinary and other personnel actions as warranted.

• Supports and coordinates professional development of staff. 

Requirements

• A comprehensive knowledge of healthcare development and facility planning strategies, techniques and methods, typically acquired through a Master's Degree in architecture, facility planning, health care management or a related field.

• A minimum of eight years progressively responsible managerial experience, including both line management and facility planning responsibilities with a major institution.
