Position Summary: 

Founded in 1863, this University is a selective 4-year, residential university with strong programs in business and liberal arts. The Associate Vice President is accountable to provide sound management, and collaborative planning and coordination of the University's network and communication technologies, library services, academic instructional technologies, administrative information systems and website technologies. The Associate Vice President will assist the Vice President in the development of institutional policies related to information services, and has administrative responsibility for budget, staff, and operations within operating areas of information technology, library services, website development and other information systems. S/he is also responsible for the development and maintenance of corporate relationships with information technology providers.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Anticipate changes and emerging trends in information technology and library sciences which might affect University resources, and work collaboratively with internal constituencies in the development of information technology strategies to meet operational and strategic needs.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of sound institutional policies, procedures and standards relating to information technology to safeguard the information resources of the University while supporting the University's mission and strategic objectives.

  • Effectively oversee the mining and synthesis of information technology analytics and data to support University wide strategic decision making.

  • Facilitate campus-wide partnerships and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus leaders to integrate the use of technology in promoting student success, productive scholarship, service, and community outreach.

  • Provide recommendation and counsel to the VPIS on matters related to Information Services administration and actively participate on assigned committees

  • Provide leadership and support to projects as assigned by the VPIS, including but not limited to oversight and administration of project plans and scope, coordinating task assignments and team responsibilities, and monitoring and managing project resource requirements and expenditures.

  • Effectively oversee the recruitment, supervision, evaluation, and development of administrative and support staff, ensuring hiring and supervisory practices is in compliance with the spirit and intent of the University policy of diversity and EEO/AA guidelines.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:         

  • This position is best served by an individual with a graduate degree and a demonstrated knowledge of the role of information technology in higher education, as well as a successful background in a higher education environment or equivalent complex organization.

  • The ideal candidate must be a visionary leader, consensus builder, and change agent who possesses a thorough understanding of technology and what is required to successfully plan and budget for technology needs, successfully implement technology solutions, and work with University faculty and staff to achieve the full benefits of technology.

  • Familiarity with utilization of analytics and metrics to support strategic planning is strongly preferred. Strong project management skills which demonstrate excellent organizational and planning skills, an understanding of work flow and processes, and the ability to establish clear and measurable priorities and objectives is required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to gain the respect and cooperation of internal and external University constituencies.

  • Attentiveness to detail and the ability to serve as a resource on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives which are consistent with and in support of the University's mission is imperative.
