The
Executive Director of Development (EDoD) is accountable for
providing leadership and management of the Development
program including: Annual Giving; Major Gifts; Planned
Giving; Corporate and Foundation Relations; Stewardship;
Donor Relations; and Prospect Management.
This
position reports to the Vice President for University
Advancement as does the Director of Alumni Relations,
Executive Director of University Relations, and Director of
Advancement Services. The EDoD will provide important
leadership and mentoring for the Development team as well as
serving as a member of the Vice President’s Senior
Leadership Team.
The
successful candidate will work with the Vice President in
planning and implementing a $75 million to $100 million,
seven-year capital campaign that will run from 2011-2017.
The EDoD will manage a personal portfolio of major gift
prospects; manage a team of eight including six
director-level or front-line fundraisers; work with the
University Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees
and the Campaign Leadership Committee; oversee the creation
and execution of a comprehensive, strategic campaign plan;
work closely with the Vice President in all strategic
aspects of the campaign; collaborate effectively with other
Senior Leadership Team members throughout the division.
SPECIFIC
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversee the creation and executive of a comprehensive
campaign plan.

Provide effective, outcome- and accountability-focused
leadership for all Development programs including:
Annual Giving; Major Gifts; Planned Giving; Corporate
and Foundation Relations; Stewardship; Donor Relations;
and Prospect Management.

Maintain an active portfolio of major gift prospects.

Effectively recruit, evaluate, motivate and encourage
professional development of employees, ensuring that all
hiring and supervisory practices are in compliance with
the spirit and intent of the University's policy on
diversity and EEO/AA guidelines.

Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Interested in and committed to advancing the mission of
our client.

Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree
preferred.

Seven (7) or more years of senior level experience in
fund-raising and campaigning, preferably in a higher
education environment.

Demonstrated success in the design, implementation and
management of a successful fund-raising program.

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication
skills and the ability to effectively represent our
client to internal and external constituents.

Ability to think strategically and to effectively
prioritize and execute multiple projects to successfully
meet project timelines.

Supervisory experience and leadership skills to
effectively plan, oversee and evaluate the work of
assigned staff.
